The Cheesecake Factory: Corte Madera, California: Water Color Therapy

The Cheesecake Factory
Corte Madera, California
Water-Color Therapy

One of my favorite restaurants is the Cheesecake Factory, and my favorite one is located in Marin county in Corte Madera, California. I am not just madly in-love with the amazing food they serve at the Cheesecake Factory, but the architecture and interior design is absolutely incredible.

I recently took this photo of the restaurant with the immense water-color painting located above the kitchen. I not only love the color-palete, but I love starring at it. For me looking at it is real color therapy.

The ambiance in the Cheesecake Factory is dark and really romantic. Even the ceiling has amazing artwork, and I took this next photo of a water-color painting located on the ceiling. By the way, all paintings on the ceiling of Cheescake Factory restaurants have a blue snake hidden in them, and you can see it on this photo toward the center left, in a vertical position.

I think it was coincidence, but I am not certain. When my girlfriend and I were leaving the Cheesecake factory recently, I noticed the "Cheesecake Factory" sign only had the word "cake" lit up, which I thought looked really cool. I don't know if the "Cheese" and "Factory" parts of the sign were turned off on purpose or burned out? Either way it looked really cool.

Joseph Simmons Run's House Indoor Basketball Court

Joseph Simmons
Run's House Indoor Basketball Court ManCave

I love shooting hoops. I am not that crazy about playing basketball, but I find just hanging-out with a friend or by myself, while shooting hoops to be extremely therapeutic and it is a good way to maintain your flexibility and balance.

Joseph Simmons, best know as "Run" was one of the founding members of Run DMC. He has his own reality TV show named "Run's House" and in the following set of photos, we see him chillin' on his indoor basket ball court, which I believe is right of the kitchen.

I think it is fascinating how well thought-out the space-saving design of Run's indoor basketball court is. If you look closely, the hoop and backboard are attached to the wall so help save room. I would love to have a setup like this, but I would want the ability to lower the hoop so I could slam dunk the ball.

Joseph Simmons is now a practicing minister known as Reverend Run, and he is the younger brother of Russell Simmons, the co-founder of Def Jam Records.

Stunning Palm Beach Spanish/Mediterranean Home

Stunning Palm Beach Spanish/Mediterranean Home

Speaking of loggias, this home has a stunning outdoor loggias, and this view is just unbelievable. It is currently for sale for $8.85 Million by Sotheby's International Realty in Palm Beach.

Beautiful Bedroom Design

Beautiful Bedroom Design

One of the most interesting things about interior design is that, despite the fact that I might like my own home, and the way it is decorated, there are so many homes I could just move into tomorrow and enjoy the interior decorating just as much.

This first photo is of my current bedroom. I painted the walls and ceiling vintage claret, which is a very deep blue/red, with no orange tones in it. I did this because it feels womb-like to me–very cozy and romantic!

If I had to start all over again, I think I would go with something like the photo below. I say this because I painted my bathroom with this lavender color paint, with white wainscoting, and I LOVE this color combination!!! It is so beautiful, positive and romantic!!!! I just love this look!!!

Recently, I was visiting my friend Kirsten's home, and I took this next photo of her daughter's bedroom, which I think is gorgeous for a young girl.

Beautiful Marin Loggia
Kentfeild, California

I found this image years ago of a beautiful loggia in Marin. I think it was in Kentfield, California which is in Marin County. The photo was taken by Vince Valdez and underneath the photos it says "The outdoor loggia provides shade against midday sun–and its fireplace, warmth on cool evenings."

Sub-Zero Coolness: The Pro 48 Refrigerator The Mother Of All Refrigerators

Sub-Zero Coolness: The Pro 48 Refrigerator
The Mother Of All Refrigerators

Sub-Zero Refrigerators are the coolest and probably best designed and made. I remember the first time I saw this back in 2005, being stunned at how beautiful is was. The irony, is that it uses less energy that a 100 watt lightbulb!!!

Unlike a standard refrigerator/freezer combo, the Pro 48 incorporates two separate microprocessor controlled compressors and evaporators, one set for the refrigerator, on the right side, and the other set for the freezer which is on the left side.

The refrigerator has an auto-closing door. The Pro-48 comes with an ice-maker and separate bins for fruits, vegetables and cheese, so they don't affect each others taste. The Sub-Zero PRO 48 weighs 900 pounds and retails for around $17,000.

The Ultimate Marin Infinity Pool- Belvedere's Shimmering Bay View...

The Ultimate Marin Infinity Pool
Belvedere's Shimmering Bay View

I grew up in San Francisco, and Marin County so over the years, I have become quite familiar with some of the most beautiful homes in the San Francisco Bay Area. Belvedere is Italian, and translated into English it means "beautiful view."

This Belvedere beauty has one of the coolest Infinity pool I have ever seen in my life!!! It is called "At The Waters Edge" and it is located on the western-slope of Belvedere Island which has a view of "Sausalito's Sparkling Bay."

I have been in this house and it is one of the coolest modern homes I have ever seen. it was designed by the New York based architect, Charles Gwathmey. In the future I plan to write much more extensively about it and show many more photos of its architecture.

I have never been much of a fan of the Plasma TV over the fireplace, but I must admit this one is really, really nice!!!

All-In-One Wonder
Kitchen, Dining Area & Living Room

I don't know how I feel about the concept of an all-in-one space that has the kitchen, dining room table and living room all in one? This space is fascinating, and in a weird way it is kind of like a large LUMENHAUS. Methinks it is an interesting idea, but it could be improved upon...

A Beautiful Outdoor Swimming Pool

A Beautiful Outdoor Swimming Pool

I have always like this more modern Flinstones swimming pool look. I remember the Osborne's had a really cool pool like this one. I also think Hugh Hefner was one of the first people to have a pool/grotto like this at the Playboy Mansion.

A Stunning Indoor Pool Room

A Stunning Indoor Pool Room

I have always been a sucker for indoor swimming pool rooms. There is something really cool about hanging out late-night in one of these rooms with friends and family, having a great time!!!

Welcome to Jake's Architecture World

Welcome to Jake's Architecture World

"First we shape our buildings, then they shape us." –Winston Churchill

I have been extremely passionate about architecture my whole life and I thought it would make sense to create Jake's Architecture World so I could share all my ideas and notes on architecture with the world. I intend to showcase many, many different types of architecture, with an emphasis on innovative design. In particular, I am fascinated with intimate spaces that incorporate the best technology, but typically keep it invisible.

I figured I would begin with a photo of one of my favorite pieces of architecture that was designed by Lloyd Wright, who was Frank Lloyd Wrights son. This beauty is located in Los Angeles, and I intend to go into much more depth on this masterpiece.
